LAS VEGAS | Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino | FT | 10 FLOORS

Quote:
The design has also changed since first announced and is being sold with dramatic help from lush renderings by EV&A Architects. The same "lucky" red exterior color remains, but the concept is sleeker, more mature and clearly aiming to draw visitors at this end of the Strip away from their very close neighbor SLS Las Vegas.

Utilizing the same EB-5 program as Resorts World, SLS and the Downtown Grand, the aim is to attract foreign investors with the promise permanent residency, better know as a "Green Card" for "you, your spouse and children under 21 by investing $500,000 into a US government designated program."

They can then take advantage of "multi-lingual staff and signage" servicing 201 "high end guest rooms and suites appointed in modern Asian style" and a "secluded pool with private bar."

Down on the casino floor, the focus is on "Baccarat, Pai Gow, Fan Tan and Sic Bo." Keeping the boutique feel, there will be "approximately 600 slot machines." By comparison, SLS Las Vegas hosts about 800 machines. Lucky Dragon will add "approximately 60 table games" and "Feng Shui designed high limit lounges."

A 2016 completion date has still been recently touted. The site is currently an empty lot.
Current Site: (1/9/15)

Concrete foundation started for Lucky Dragon boutique hotel

Quote:
Plans for a 2.5-acre site near Sahara Avenue and the Strip had the bad fortune of poor timing.

But the parcel’s owners hope to reverse that inauspicious start with a new project — one whose name beckons serendipity.

Builders started pouring the concrete foundation last week for Lucky Dragon, a nine-story, 201-room boutique hotel squeezed between the Golden Steer restaurant and the Allure condominium tower, at 300 W. Sahara Ave.

The project’s developer, Andrew Fonfa, didn’t respond to a phone call by press time and companies working on the hotel-casino declined to comment, but a 2012 Review-Journal article on the property’s approval by the Las Vegas City Council noted that it would be the only area resort targeted at locals from and residents of countries in the Far East, as well as the only property that “even attempts an Asian identity.”

Since then, Genting Berhad of Malaysia has moved into the market on the former Echelon site, and is building the $4 billion, 3,000- to 6,000-room Resorts World Las Vegas to appeal partly to middle-income Asians.

Resorts World Las Vegas broke ground on May 5, and on Friday, a construction crane was in action at the Lucky Dragon site as well.

This is a wonderful addition! It will give Allure some company while not blocking any views and even providing better views. This project will also continue to bring more life into the area.

Construction of Lucky Dragon resort advancing on ‘aggressive schedule’

Quote:
Not far from where the massive, Chinese-themed Resorts World Las Vegas is under construction on the north Strip, a boutique hotel-casino with a similar theme is rapidly taking shape.

Over the past few months, workers have been busy building the Lucky Dragon at a 2.5-acre site on Sahara Avenue just west of Las Vegas Boulevard. The project, which is situated between the Golden Steer restaurant and the Allure condominiums, includes a nine-story hotel tower and a separate casino building.

The Lucky Dragon has progressed largely under the radar, but Penta Building Group celebrated the completion of the hotel structure Friday and offered a glimpse inside the work that’s been done.

Penta project manager Paul Dutmer said his company started on the Lucky Dragon just a few months ago and built one floor per week once the lower part of the hotel was complete.

“It has an aggressive schedule,” he said of the project.

Now that every floor of the hotel is built, Penta’s remaining work includes finishing the parking garage and constructing the smaller casino portion, Dutmer said. The project is expected to be completed next summer.

4/2016: Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino Has a Plan to Get Back on Track

Quote:
Under construction Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino has been struggling for months to find the final $55 million they say they need to finish their visually enticing, Asian-themed resort. But a new plan might lower that final, heavy financial burden, if they can persuade the City to agree to their compromise.

Much of the anticipation for the "240,199-square-foot, 201 room, 10 story hotel" has rested on the stunning renderings created by EV&A Architects and the dramatic ruby metal exterior. The project owners now want to abandon the metal finish on the casino and replace it with a "smooth EIFS product that resembles metal panels." Work on the casino's exterior has yet to begin.
