Goodnight Hamilton - My last High Def look of the steel city

Goodnight Hamilton - My last High Def look of the steel city

After a year in Hamilton my wife and I are moving to Mississauga next week... I saved the best night shots for the end.. make sure to look at them all or you will miss the best.. Will miss you Hamilton.. it was fun!

...all taken with Nikon D80 - 10.2 MP, various lenses

the set for the movie HULK.. this is just a parking lot with a shell on it.. its actually all plastic..

Goodnight Hamilton

Great quality pictures! Really nice job. CIBC building almost blends in with the blue skies.

Did you sell your condo? Make a profit after the renovation? Or are you still keeping the condo?

Lovely photos!
I've always found Hamilton to be a fascinating city. Beautiful architecture, dense skyline, and just an all around vibrant, dynamic feel. Some cities would kill to have what Hamilton has to work with.

(Hint: If you are trying to promote your city, don't take pictures of needles all over the ground. )

Thanks for that, WZ1! LOVE the pic of your view... I'm super jealous!

I, and the Olympia, will miss your insight on our city... but know at the same time that you'll be back. They always come back... hehehe

What made you decide on Mississauga over the Hammer? May I ask??

Steeltown: I made a very large profit on the condo actually..the renovation really paid off.. would have liked to keep it but with the house its a little much.

DC83: I love Hamilton, always will, and if I was able to work in Burllington or Oakville I would be back for sure. I chose Mississauga as its closer to work for me and my wife still works in Oakville. I found the commute extremely long and although I sleep on the GO bus each day.. id rather have that time with my wife. Its not that its that far, its just that to get to work for 8:30 (yonge/stclair) I have to leave at 6:30.. walk to go.. then take subway once i reach TOR...

ahh yes. public transit in the golden horseshoe. i feel for you.
many hamilton residents have left for the same reason. until council gets off their fat backside and demands better transit links it'll never change.

awesome pics.

Hamilton and London both get no mention as even existing in the US. This might be due to the fact there aren't NHL teams in either of the cities but both should be better recognized outside of Canada.

With residents like WZ1, Flar and yes, even Brian Melo (hehe), this city has received some great exposure and will continue to do so throughout the next few months/years.

It's just sad that our own local gov't and media is not as passionate about the city as the majority of regular Hamiltonians (ie.: all of us on this site).

I KNOW WZ1 will keep praising Hamilton, even to those people down the QEW. Just keep in mind, there are a lot of GTAers that don't even know Hamilton exists... nevermind Americans!

SPREAD THE WORD, WZ1!!!! hahahaha

no kidding....let's spread the word so people who live 35 minutes from here actually know about us, then we'll worry about the US.
If Balsille can pull it off ,we'll get that NHL team and international exposure!! And finally the GTA will have a hockey team!

I always spread the good word when I'm in Toronto. I've already "converted" four people. One of them moved right downtown from Brampton, and still commutes to his job at Pearson. He moved here cause he (as an urban explorer) loves the architecture and night life downtown. I pointed him to a nice old building on John North, near the fire hall.

I always praise Hamilton.. If it wasnt such a pain in the ass to get to work.. I would never leave. It never ceases to amaze me that people who work in Burlngton, Oakville, Mississauga.. will pay sky high prices for a home when they could get something nicer and cheaper in Hamilton. Where will you find a nice victorian house in Mississauga...? ... or one that will last for more than 30-years. I think the thing i will miss the most about Hamilton is my long walks downtown at night and sitting on my balcony overlooking lake Ontario and the steel plants burn in to the late hours of the evening.

Great work WZ1, as usual. I've always had a liking for Hamilton, it's gives you the big-city feel without the crazy pace of life.
