Buenos Aires: one of the most beautiful cities in the Americas

All the photos belong to the following threads: América Latina - Skylines, América Latina - Lima, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, São Paulo y Ciudad de México y Conosur- Buenos Aires, Santiago y Montevideo, from the section Cuidades y Urbanismo in the Latinscrapers forums of Skyscrapercity general forum.

Buenos Aires is a very big city, famous worldwide for its european character and its boulevards and parks, which resemble a lot western european capitals. The embassys, the government buildings, elegant hotels and restaurants, its greenery, monuments, makes one feel its a capital of an ancient Empire. The city´s infranstructure is excellent, with one the oldest and longest subways in all the Americas, modern airport, harbour, beautiful parks, clubs, wide avenues, great hotels and restaurants and overall a very good public transportation network. The city has a pleasant temperate climate and attracted, over the centuries, mainly immigrants and workers from Europe, and most recently, from other parts of South America and Asia.

Let´s start with Puerto Madero and Catalinas, some of the most modern areas of Buenos Aires.

Indeed it´s gorgeous, and in the recent years it has opened up more to imports and foreign investment, so it really got more interesting.

Buenos Aires is full of parks and green spaces.

And elegant boulevards

The city is cultured as well. El Ateneo is a great book store built inside an old opera house.

No, Buenos Aires has the Rio de la Plata, a river, that boarders the city. It´s not salt water and there are no natural beaches like the ones in Rio de Janeiro, but there is a small artificial beach that works only during the summer. Though it´s not very recommended to swim in the river because the water is not that clean.

The closest real oceanic beach is far away.

I hope I could help.

The city is huge, clean, has temperate climate and overall safe. Like Brazil, Argentina is neutral in matters of wars or other nation´s affairs, like Switzerland, which was a bless for the city, since its great classical buildings were mostly kept intact during WWI and WWII, unlike huge chunks of european and asian cities. There are no tornadoes or hurricanes, nor earthquakes, volcanos or tsunamis in Buenos Aires. The city is also free of huge terrorist attacks. Buenos Aires habitants can be very happy. They have a beautiful well preserved city!!

The National Congress is in a gorgeous classic style building.

Buenos Aires has excellent infrastructure with wide avenues, modern stadiums, modern airport and harbour and plenty of green spaces.

This is the widest avenue in the world, the one with the lightened obelisk.

Monument of Switzerland to Argentina. Both countries have a tradition of neutrality in other nations affairs, like most of South America.

Inside Colón Opera House. Gorgeous.

And beautiful El Ateneo bookstore.

A cultured, clean, civilized and green city.
