What was I thinking when I thought taking a boat downtown every day would be cool?

What was I thinking when I sold my car to take public transit that never actually meets up with the boat on time?

*looks out and sees this*

Oh yeah, that's why I bought here.

P.S. Note the guy in shorts. In late November. In Canada. Take that, east.

P.P.S. Best photo my cell phone ever took.

I don't get why he was wearing shorts! He must be an ex-boyfriend of Don's.

Here in Seattle, it was definitely not shorts weather, although just as sunny, so I can't imagine Vancouver was warmer, as it's usually 1-5 degrees colder.

I love Vancouver! As for wearing shorts in november there...It's all relative. Portland often feels tropical compared to Vancouver.....and we wouldn't dare wear shorts here this time of year.

...because that would be boring? And I honestly do forget why I chose to live on this side of the inlet. It can be a huge pain with no car and such poor public transit, and I almost never take the time to go sit where I sat yesterday and enjoy the view. I'm usually just waiting in the dark bus loop and cursing the bus driver for being 30 seconds late as usual.

Are you sure it's any colder? I've never heard that. I often watch the Seattle news/weather with surprise that the weather's worse there.

I figured our somewhat-closer-to-the-real-Pacific-Ocean status compensated for being slightly further north. It was warm enough for me to take off my jacket and sit in a t-shirt in that one spot yesterday.

Well, I base that on a few things: Vancouver has a higher annual rainfall, and lower average temperatures year round.

For example, Seattle's average high in August is 74 F. Vancouver's is 71.
Seattle's average high in December is 46 and Vancouver's is 42.

Our high today is supposed to be 47 F and sunny, yours is supposed to be 46 F and sunny, so right now there's no negligible difference.

Seattle's annual rainfall is 37.1 inches per annum, and Vancouver's is 47 inches. big difference, i think!

From north to south they get gradually warmer for sure. Vancouver is almost always the coldest, then Seattle and finally Portland. Usually only a few degrees between them though.

Actually Vancouver only averages 43 inches of rain a year. Compared to Seatles 37.1. Big differnce? Hardly. Vancouver and Seattle pretty much have about the same temps and precip. Suprisingly Portland is prone to more extreme weather outbreaks then either Seattle or Vancouver because of the Columbia River Gorge cold air will pour into Western Oregon from east of the mountains, plus its farther from the ocean which allows radiational cooling. But often times it is mostly a tad warmer but not by much.

I have no problem with constant drizzel and rain, but I can understand how someone coming from back east could get depressed. Its often dark and cloudy here, it would be nice to see the sun sometimes.

On second glance, he looks more like a German tourist.

all depends on his cars milage.

lets assume he drives either an SUV or a hummer. that a 12 dollar trip at least, one way!

so at 24 dollars a day at an average of 21 days per month... 504 dollars per month going downtown to work everyday.

In canadian dollars thats about 496.

I was just joking. I live in the city and take a bus most days unless I got to use my car for a site visit or something.

Last time I was in Van in November it rained for 5 days, nonstop. Remember 28 straight days of nonstop rain? Of course you do.

That's a gorgeous pic, but who do you think you're fooling? One sunny day followed by four days of rain. That's torture.

I'm not trying to fool anyone....? I hate the rain myself. Enough that I probably would've moved back to Sydney (Aus) where I grew up if I did not get engaged to a Vancouverite.

The fact that it does rain so much in winter made that one sunny moment where I took that pic extra nice.

Every time I go to Vancouver in August it's always sunny. I like rain though I would definitely choose rain over snow in the winter.
