Looks pretty simple but still better than most buildings in the area.

the floorplans seem to indicate most of the building is hotel, floors 17-24 are residential. Almost all residential is 1br or studio, 2 2br per floor and nothing bigger.

I think they'll probably rethink their floorplans for 23 and 24 and add more 2br or 2br+den penthouse units.

developer is Prince Developments (who I've never heard of), and architech is Roderick Lahey.

AC Hotel by Marriott with 208 rooms. Remainder of the building to be occupied by 76 residential units.

121 parking spaces, 115 for the hotel and 6 for residential visitors. None for the condo units? 109 bike spaces. 77 meters tall.

Not sure why they're doing massing for future developments around.

I'm worried the old buildings on each side of this new development will eventually be demolished and "saved" as more soulless façdism. Nothing do do with this project however.

Pretty decent development.

On the bottom of the render it shows a sign for AC hotel (Marriott). If that's the brand then it'll be only the 2nd AC hotel in Canada (Mtl has one and it opened in 2018 I think).

Edit: J.OT typed faster.

Entrance looks to be on Rideau Street. I wonder what traffic plans are needed. I guess they may do away with bus lanes since the LRT will be operational. Still this will add more traffic along the truck route on Rideau between King Edward and Waller.

There are few parking spots in the building, virtually all of them dedicated to the hotel, which means the ins and outs will be spread out throughout the day instead of the traditional rush hour.

Claridge Royale will have its parking entrance/exit on George along with the loading dock entrance. The loading exit however, is on Rideau. Won't be busy, but when vehicles come out, it will be large semis leaving after delivering the merchandise to Metro.

Yup, looks like they built the AC Marriott in Montreal as well. They've built a few things in Ottawa.

Any chance you could add AC Marriott to this thread? It would be easier to identify in a sea of Rideau proposals.

Looking at the renderings...Hopefully the cladding and glazing are at least on par with Richcraft Galleria, The Slater, or ArtHaus.

The cheap suburban hotel market is already more than covered in this area.

If it's anything like the one in Montreal, and I can see the similarities, we should be good.

https://www.booking.com/hotel/ca/ac-...own.en-gb.html

Seems we've been getting a lot of hotels built and proposed over the last few years. I'm wondering why Cadillac Fairview hasn't built a new hotel at the Rideau Centre considering the site probably has the best business rational.

No problem... was going through some of the U/C threads and realized many had been completed, but the last update was halfway through construction. Guess we will all have to take more pictures when we are out and about.

Thread title updated.

I don't think even the largest urban hotels add a significant amount of traffic to their streets. You can sit outside the Marriot or Delta in Centretown and you might see a car every few minutes at peak times.

This will add some density to lower Rideau Street, but I'm still waiting for some action on the upper street. I wonder what Trinity is waiting for.
