What's a major city in Canada that you can't believe you've never visited??

For me, it's Ottawa.

I was lucky enough to take a train all the way to Halifax in the late 1990s when I was in my early 20s. That train ride allowed me to see a large chunk of this nation's cities. Unfortunately, it didn't go through Ottawa, and to this day, I still haven't visited.

St. John's. I believe that I have been to all other 100K+ metros at least once.

As a citizen of the 24th largest CMA in the country, I'm insulted.

I've been to all the larger cities in the east. In the west, I'm missing Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina and Kelowna.

May is a good time to come. It's not peak season, but the days are long and it can be pretty warm - the chance of it being cold are more or less gone.

April, on the other hand, is a really bad time to come to Toronto. It can be cold, there's always one last flurry in mid-late April, and after all the piles of snow have melted, the city is at its dirtiest. It also takes a lot of energy to heat up the Great Lakes, so even on a hot day, if you go down to the lake, you can expect bracing winds.

Don't worry, if the CMA list is expanded to the top 25, Moncton's not on it. Been to the Hub city many, many times.

Winnipeg, Saskatoon, and Regina. I've never been to Saskatchewan or Manitoba. I've been to every other province (but none of the territories).

I expect spring to be further along in Toronto in May than it is here, most trees are still bare at the start of May here. Going to take the train to Montreal after as well, stoked for a trip to the 2 biggest cities in the country! Hoping a trip to the 3rd is in the cards this summer as well, need to mountain bike the north shore!

Ottawa, Hamilton, Halifax, and Victoria are the big ones for me. I’ve driven through Hamilton and caught a layover in Ottawa, but those don’t count.

Nearly went to Victoria last October, but plans fell through. Hopefully this year?

Aside from a few U.S and Cdn. major cities, I've never been anywhere outside of Ontario, so I'll just list the Cdn metros I've been to, which isn't much. Belonging to this site, I should do a walk of shame! And I have relatives and friends in both Calgary and Vancouver, who I can and should visit.

Ottawa (Live here)
Toronto
Montreal
Hamilton
London
Kitchener
Windsor
Oshawa
Sudbury (if that counts?)
Kingston (ditto)

I have no trouble believing I haven't visited all of Canada's notable cities. The country is huge. It's like expecting to have visited every capital from Dublin to Baku.

That said, Yellowknife is one I'd be curious to see.

I think when we did a rail trip from Halifax to Vancouver as a teen, our route took us through Regina and Calgary. If that is the case, then I've never been to Edmonton and Saskatoon. Those would almost certainly be the largest, excluding whichever suburban municipalities of the big three that my bus, taxi, whatever has never passed through.

Calgary and Vancouver are both gorgeous cities in the summer, and the Stampede is turning into one of the best music festivals in the world these days.

Depending on your definition of "major", my list woud be:

St John
Moncton
Sherbrooke
St Catharines
Kelowna (hope to get there this fall)

Nah. Those of us who don't travel for work have had less opportunity (I used to have more when we were able to attend conferences; took a couple of vacations that led me to some, and of the ones I've been to the most Montreal and Ottawa are notables). I've been outside Ontario on both sides of the border, but most of the majors I've been to are in the province.

Of those in Canada that I can't believe I haven't visited yet, I'll mention Winnipeg and Calgary, though the visit-list is long. If including the U.S., New York is probably highest in priority though it'll be at least 3 more years before I go.
