Saw this on Russia Beyond. We don’t get enough St. Petersburg news on SSP or SSC.

Perfect, and the Childlike Empress can live in the top and look over the motherland as the kleptocracy strips it bare like the nothingness.

Like what someone said over on NYY... "corrupt petrostate" comes to mind.

You've got to be kidding me with this...

"Russia is a gas station with nukes"

This tower does look like a unicorn from The NeverEnding Story. I can only imagine the cost of putting the facade on.

well whaddaya know? looks like the tallest structure's foundation is well underway per the yimby link pics.

gazprom owns the site and is likely well involved -- they got it like that with the rubles, so money probably isnt a big thing.

Arrow

Sitting at 462 metres tall, the first Lakhta Centre makes the Freedom Bunker & WTC look like a banal mediocre design half developed in 20 years by Gov entities and a cheap "value engineering" developer.

The center Won the following CTBUH 2021 awards...

Quote:
We are proud to announce that the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat has awarded the Lakhta Center the Audience Awards 2021 for Best Tall Building 400 meters and above and for Best Tall Building in Europe.
The Center has also won the CTBUH Construction Award 2021 and the Category Awards for Façade Engineering.

Lakhta Centre II reminds us of the pitt from the Chicago Spire and rivals Shanghai Tower in aesthetics. Only for Mother Russia!!!

Wow. Fascinating. I actually think this tower is fairly interesting architecturally. That third one though? Looks way too disproportionate and fat.

I would love to someday explore St. Petersburg and Russia. I will likely be 75 years old by the time Putin kicks it though...
