When will Chicago get a new tallest?.

Since the Chicago Spire, we've had the Tribune tower that seems to have stalled.

How long before Chicago gets a new tallest?

Question: which will happen first, Chicago gets a new tallest, or the Bears finally win a second Superbowl?

Answer: neither.

Who cares?

It'll happen when it happens. 5 years, 10 years, it doesn't matter. And when it does happen eventually, it'll most likely be awesome.

I can see Chicago getting a gold plated tower 2x the height of the Burj Khalifa before the Bears ever see another Vince Lombardi trophy.

Maybe if Chicago can wiggle it's way ahead of the pack to become "Quantum City".... Then maybe some magical Unicorn Quantum Computing company will emerge to build us a shiny trophy tower.

Until then....... I'm with Steely.

But one doesn’t preclude the other. You could have one in ‘77 surpass the one built in ‘37.

LOL, no.

Apparently in the iRobot 2035 future, Chicago adds an elevated West Side freeway to the train

Even Buck Rogers in the 25th Century is all,

“The world is mostly destroyed. Chicago rebuilds and becomes the new world capital. And, oh yeah! Can’t forget the futuristic elevated train!

Neither because both will happen at precisely the same second.

The loss of the Spire still bothers me. It was my my anticipated project in the US during the 2000s.

I still don't understand why another firm couldn't have reactivated the project after things improved during the 2010s.

Fun note, this film while taking place in Chicago, was actually filmed in Vancouver...

Money.

The project didn't make fiscal sense initially, which is why it was never able to land a full construction loan.

And it doubly didn't make fiscal sense after the crash.

If a project ain't gonna make the right people (more) rich.......
