was lucky to go to Mexico in July, I've never really wanted to go to a resort type places, Mexico City had been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember and finally got to make it there for a quick trip with a few days in Cancun squished in the middle. All over it really was a great trip, quick though and despite seeing a lot there was just so much more to see so will get to do that in the future, so this was like an intro to Mexico for me, my partner would like for us to be snowbirds in the future and spend the winter months down there when we eventually retire. Anyway I just used my phone as I packed light and had no camera.
we arrived late and went for a wander around midnight to find food, it was not as scary as I had heard it could be and people were very friendly and helpful. So much street art.
on the right is a Sears store with a rooftop cafe with a great view of the Palais De Bellais Artes building, never did make it up there to see though. PXL_20220710_185652928 by snub_you, on Flickr
there are so many Starbucks along this street, the prices are about the same as one would be paying in Canada. PXL_20220710_201803016 by snub_you, on Flickr
i have been twice -- its a great city to wander around in and explore the varied central barrios.
when i was last there louise bourgeois' maman spider sculpture was visiting and was put up in front of the bellas artes building, which was fun to see it there.
Great pics. I also went to CMX in early July and did a lot of similar things you did (bike around the city, centro historico, la reforma). I'll probably post a thread here sometime too but I wonder if we were at the same spots.
I hope you had as good of a time as my partner and I did! Unfortunately Montezuma hit us both pretty hard but we still had an excellent time, especially in Roma, Chapultapec and our side trip to Taxco.
It's a great city, amazing to see. Feels at times as you are in Europe.
Back to more pics.
Roma Norte. Told it was one of the worst hit areas by the earthquake and there are a lot of signs. At times it felt like being in the east village, at least gives off those vibes. Home to many ex-pats and Youtube er Digital nomads flocking there for cheap rent and a US income.
The area is also a dog heaven, there is a large dog park, which is surrounded by many businesses catering to dogs, like vets, doggy daycares, a dog cafe that sells fancy dog treats, pet stores, and every other person seems to be walking a dog while others walk a group of dogs for other owners.
This was a mobile dog wash station parked beside the very popular and busy dog park. PXL_20220710_221812025 by snub_you, on Flickr
I've always wanted to go to Mexico City ever since I was in high school, it always fascinated me, but I still haven't been there. On top of exploring the city and its museums, I really want to go to the Leon Trotsky house.

Great set of photos! Definitely a city near the top of my list to visit. Amazing what you were able to accomplish just using the camera on your cell phone! Interesting about the expats living down there for remote work. I wonder what the magnitude is of that and if it will be a temporary or permanent situation as time progresses.
Of all the areas we saw Roma Norte was the only place I heard lots of English being spoken. We watched a lot of youtube stuff before we left and there are quite lot of them explaining how they ended up there, one of the youtubers had recently moved over from Spain.
The subway is relatively easy to use, we were there the first day that they shut down one of the lines to get an upgrade and refit and was causing a lot of chaos at some stations and made some destinations a little harder and had to find other ways to get places.
the big square was closed off as they were setting up for something, the tents were there for some kind of protest PXL_20220711_012319865 by snub_you, on Flickr
Seeing this square was like one of those moments like seeing the Eiffel tower for the first time in person. PXL_20220711_012140954 by snub_you, on Flickr
