CONTAGEM | Via Expressa Complex (9 towers) | 561 FT | 23-40 FLOORS | PRO

With an area of 368,870 m², the Via Expressa Complex is one of the biggest developments in the history of the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, one of the most populous metro areas in Americas. The land where the complex will be built mixed use is on the banks of the Via Expressa (Expressway) of Contagem, Água Branca neighborhood, where it worked an old water park.

The two glazed towers promise to impact with a hint of floating floors without visible pillars and huge spans. The project is in the proposal stage and is awaiting approval of the Municipality of the city of Contagem and environmental agencies. Architecture was developed by FarkasVolGyi last year and hired by Multipar Group, which is the same behind the hotel Golden Tulip Belo Horizonte, which should be ready by the 2014 World Cup.

The project of Via Expressa Complex is developed by FarKasVölGyi Architecture Company. All images below belongs to that company for reserved rights.

To support larger spans, the two tallest towers in metal frame will use the concept x-bracing, cross-linked steel, similar to what occurs with the Renaissance Tower in Dallas and the John Hancock Center, located in Chicago.

A deficit club controlled by an association of firefighters and more one flat land totally free, both with roughly the same size. It is in these two areas, on the banks of the railway and expressway, which is being designed the building complex of Contagem. It's what I could see visiting the place this month.

The two towers of 171 meters (About 561 feet) and 40 floors and over other 30 floors are designed to be built on the land of the club. The three towers of 28 storeys and three 23-floor towers are planned to be built on the land vacated today.

So far, the two towers of 40 floors of the Via Expressa Complex will be the second and third tallest buildings in the brazilian state of Minas Gerais, and it's been losing only to the commercial tower of 85 floors Andradas Complex, taking into account buildings under status of projected, approved, under construction or completed.

According to the administration of the firemen’s association, Ascobom, there are comments about a possible change from the place. The fact is that the Acquaplay club is today restricted to members of categories such as firefighters, police and military association itself. It is not a water park, which has a strong marketing can attract not only local visitors, but also as visitors of other cities. The movement at the club was very low in extended weekend of easter, for example.

The conservation of the club is also not the best. Dirty and dusty in external areas, no pedestrian control in the ordinance, defaced walls, old facilities, internal space barely tapped with large empty points, among others.

A positive point is that unlike Andradas Complex, no illegal occupation of land and residents in nearby Via Expressa Complex. To make the project feasible, simply the Multipar Group must acquire the two lands according to Roberto Justus, Multipar executive member*, that are available in the documentations .

The subway station Novo Eldorado, a expansion project planned to be built by Metrominas** will be nearby the Via Expressa Complex. The subway station is important, as will create synergy with the complex for purposes of economic feasibility of the project.

Great fill, but boring box designs for the most part.

The Multipar Group, one of responsibles for developing the Via Expressa Complex in Contagem, announced changes to the project on 07/24/2015. The towers 1 and 2 multipurpose 171 meters and 40 remains floors, with small changes in the base. The other buildings have changed, with body modifications and top and decreased amount compared to the original design.

A multipurpose tower 3 now has 40 floors and is matched visually in height the towers 1 and 2. Now becomes covered in glass skin. Before, the tower had three 30-story, 104 meters and the external finish was partly concrete. The tower 4 has also increased in height. It keeps 28 floors, but no longer residential and became a multipurpose and covered with glass. The tower 5 remains residential, but is replaced by a total of 33 floors, five floors more compared to the previous project. The tower also remains 6 residential and holds 28 floors of the previous project. The tower 7 follows the same fate of the tower 5 and 8 and 9 towers were eliminated.
