Mystery Tower

There's a Jeffrey Simpson article in the globe that refers to some condo tower:

"Just now, for example, the OMB is about to hear an appeal from a developer in Hamilton for a huge condo tower in a residential neighbourhood , despite the fact that city council unanimously turned down the project"

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...article1885494

Anyone have any idea what project he's referring to?

WHAT?????

This must be a bad rumour to tease me....

How/when could council vote it down?

I do love the sound of "an appeal from a developer in Hamilton for a huge condo tower in a residential neighbourhood".

I bet it's an over-exaggeration. I'm sure theres no surprise, probably something we already know about.

It's probably the St. Joseph's Villa condo planned for Dundas.

That seems plausible.

That could be it, although that's not really a residential neighbourhood. Not one single family home in sight. There are some condos and apartments across Governor's Rd, including four relatively new 9-storey buildings, a Metro, and a plaza with Shopper's Drug Mart on the next block. Oh, and an existing 18 story building. There is also a bus stop right there.

If this is what he's talking about, it sounds like a great place to put a huge condo.

If memory serves me correct, there are single family homes right by one of the towers in the St. Joseph's villa project. It was the homes on Walnut Grove that caused much of the issue as the tower was going to be right by those homes. The 2nd tower proposed right at Governors and Ogilve is probably less an issue.

I definitely wouldn't support a tower back there by the ravine. But those houses are well insulated from Governor's and Ogilvie. The nearest houses to the latter location would be the rowhouses on Ogilvie across from Amica.
