New Moderator Needed

Hi folks,

One of the Manitoba & Saskatchewan moderators has decided he wants to resign as moderator. So we're looking for someone else to replace him.

I'm looking for suggestions on who you think would be a good pick.

The person would have to be responsible of course, not get into arguments and be a regular on the forum.

Been there, done that. Don't think I'd want to do it again. Sorry, no suggestions here.

In addition, no moderators frequent the Local London forum in the Ontario Regional section.

I'm not sure if it's Ruckus or Archiseek, but Manitoba has definately been under represented in the forum. We need someone who is articulate, educated and will make an effort to represent our province professionally. Someone who is proud to be Manitoba, without the self-loathing "sense of humor".

^ Guess that rules out a certain forum member who has put his name forward.

A moderator also has to be unbiased. We had another rule at a site I was an uber-moderator at: If you wanted the job you were disqualified!

My vote would have to go to Trueviking. I think he is a good poster with generally neutral insight and has quite a solid knowledge of Winnipeg, and I'm sure he is willing to contribute to our fellow Saskatchewan member's forums in a positive way.

If I was a moderator I'd probably delete all the Saskatchewan related topics.

I don't know about deleting Sask. topics, but rather give them their own forum, and Manitoba it's own. I think both provinces deserve to be treated individually rather than lumped together as a single entity.

I also nominate Truviking.

I nominate Trueviking also because he's really the only one nominate. But there isn't a chance to nominate yourself now is there?

Trueviking is a viable candidate, but the last time we did this, if I recall correctly, he respectfully declined, no?

Either way, a moderator should be professional, well educated, and impartial to anything, and from what I can tell, Trueviking is the only person who at least know what's going on in the industry first hand.

I appreciate the nod rrskylar..

My own picks would be:
1.)Trueviking
2.)Biff
3.)Andy

I find the above three members to consistently produce enlightening and well researched posts. Biff especially is a little more cool headed than most on this forum; and Viking is an architect by profession, and thus brings in a realistic perspective to some of the more 'pie in the sky' musings that happen on here.

Andy is a venerable source on Winnipeg's history.

Despite living here my entire life, from his posts I always take away something new that I didn't know before about the many buildings and streets that I pass on a daily basis.

I whole heartedly endorse any one of the above three!

And just for kicks, if we wanted to tilt the balance of power a little i'd say:

3.)rrskylar
4.)DowntownWpg

Poster's 3 and 4 can always be counted on to play devil's advocate, themselves usually being the underdog in any debate. They might not be so quick to close threads, but rather let alternative points of view play out.

Well, being a bit busy with my supposed professional life myself, it might not be practical for me, as I suspect is the case with trueviking.

I would vote for 1ajs myself. He has more time and a great interest in the city and has been a stellar contributor to the forum. He also doesn't engage in personal attacks or respond to personal attacks on himself no matter how mean-spirited and obnoxious they might be. I'm sure that someone else could check the spelling for any important announcements that might be required. That's not to say that some of the other names wouldn't also be good.

All those names look good so far. Right now it would be a matter of which one is the most active.
