Article & Photo Posting Rules

Hey guys as a mod I feel like it's my duty to inform you about the article posting rules. Personally I'm not going to make a big issue out of it but if you post an article outside of SSP: Local Hamilton you might get in trouble.

There's two important parts

1) include the link for the article (that's a biggie)
2) bold the title

Here are the actual rules from the admins...

ARTICLES

If you're linking to a third-party article, comment or letter-to-the-editor on the forum, please follow the article linking example below.

Headline title (bolding the title helps with readibility)
Author name, publication (If available)
Date published
Link to article (full link, starting with "http://"
Single large paragraph or equivalent excerpt from the article, ending with [...] to show additional content available through the link.

PHOTOS

When posting others' photographs throughout the forum, it is every forumer's duty to properly credit the photographer and source. Improperly credited photo postings will be deleted by the moderation staff.

Proper crediting format for each found photograph: directly above or below the photo, list the photographer's name, the name of the source, and give a link to the page upon which the photo is found.

If the photographer's name is not available, name the website where the photo was found and link to the page of the site where the photograph is found.

Merely citing Google, Flickr, Wikipedia or some other host or search engine is *not* sufficient for your photo post to qualify. If you don't have the required information about a photograph, then don't post it.

I know there has been some confusion lately about the article posting rules so I'll try to break it down for better understanding.

You can post ANY legit news article, just include the hyperlink. You can copy the entire article. I say legit meaning reliable news source. If it's from say The Onion than it isn't legit, it is fake news. You can still copy the fake/humourous article just it has to be a few paragraphs with the link included.

You cannot post full articles from commentary articles. Examples would be articles from Paul Wilson, Andrew Dreschel, and Howard Elliot from the Hamilton Spectator. You'll simply need to post a few paragraphs and include the link. To finish reading the rest of the article the person would need to click on the hyperlink.
