Ya its a Timbers thing. After every goal Timber Joey(the mascot) cuts off a piece of a log in front of the timbers army. Then after the game the players that scored come over and hold up the pieces of wood, its a cool little tradition.

Nikon D300 with a nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens, and a nikkor 18-55 kit lens thats f3.5-5.6 or something
I use the 70-200 on the D300 for sports but I also have a D50 that I have over my shoulder with the wide angle lens on so I can capture close-up action.

my next upgrade will probably be a fast wide angle lens

over the next couple of days I'll post some pics of some of the football games I went to last fall

Wow, very nice! I miss taking sports shots. You've got an expensive camera/setup.

Boise State got lucky in this game played last year. They knocked out our top two quarterbacks and were barely able to hold on for the win. I'll be at boise on Sept 4th for the rematch
