I looked through that website and found a "proposed high-rise" in the photos section. Unfortunately the picture wont load on this website. Does anyone know what that is?

Isn't that the Midtown proposal? Looks almost just like it.
Not sure what you guys are talking about... but there are two construction sites on the west side of Agricola right now... just south of North Street. There is what has been a giant excavation hole for ages now at North and Agricola and there is the new Time + Space building just down from there. The Time + Space building has been under construction for some time and is either roof tight now... or close to it.
As an aside... Geoff has done some rather... let's say uninspired, residential buildings in Halifax... but he's done some interesting stuff lately too. Namely his home and studio at Barrington and Inglis... and the new Time + Space building. One might say he's trying to be Halifax's own Frank Gehry. LOL.

I had the same reaction browsing the photos page on his site. Some really interesting (in a good way) designs cheek-by-jowl with some very pedestrian, Halifax-cliched ones. One wonders what his design brief from the clients were in those cases.
Right. I know. That's what I meant. Look at the two renderings side by side... it's the same building. Almost identical.
Huh never noticed that...i kind of assumed that because they had different pages they were different buildings. So if it is Midtown this building will NOT be coming to Halifax i guess...
Wasn't it the viewplanes that killed this proposal? they should proposed this for another location. Maybe then we would have a nice building like that.
It was not the viewplanes, although over and over of course people mentioned how this proposal would violate them. Most of the Midtown lot (up to where the proposal is set back) and a small portion of the rest of that block are outside of the viewplanes. Even so, the development was shot down because it's too close to the Citadel.
Years later we still have a very ugly and underused block in the downtown where this development would have gone. It's pretty pathetic.
