Portland -- Providence Bridge Pedal

Every year the city of Portland shuts down every bridge along the willamette river for bikers.

from the marquam bridge (I-5)

20,000 people participated

It took at least 45 minutes to get through this traffic jam and to the top of the hill

from the sellwood bridge

we rode on 10 different bridges for a total of 36 miles, here are just four of those bridges

from the fremont bridge (I-405)

Broadway Bridge (foreground) Steele Bridge (background)

Llyod District

Pearl District

Mount St. Helens

pretty sweet. there were too many bicyclist in one bunch this year. a few thousand out of the 20,000 had to walk their bikes because everyone was clustered together.
whatever the matter, the views are worth it all!
Thanks for posting.

I keep saying the same thing in all the Portland and Seattle threads. Man, I got to see both of those cities soon. They look pretty sweet. Good thread.

Looks like a bike parade that I wouldn't want to be a part of... a bit too crowded for my cycling tastes. But beautiful shots of Portland... I visited many years ago and it always kinda reminded me of Pittsburgh.

Awesome pics Doug. What a difference one year makes in the Pearl District. One year from now downtown is going to look a lot different as well. I can't wait to see the 937, Park Ave. West Tower, Ladd, ZGF tower, Cyan, First and Main all completed.
