Evening walk on a balmy Chicago spring evening:

Starting at Randolph and Wacker

Another fantastic example how exposed public rail systems in our country discourage growth! ;-)

Wacker @ Franklin

Jackets not zipped up and short sleeved shirts!

300 N LaSalle is at the bottom

Crossing north on Clark

My west coast brain is confused. When you say "balmy" do you mean as in "humid, with a temperature above 75" or do you mean "balmy" as in "we're not freezing our asses off, the mercury's above 45 for once and dammit, we don't have to wear our jackets"?

Great pics, one hell of a great town.

I hope it stays warm, I will be there all next week and I want to be able to wear a t-shirt! Great pics, all of those in the downtown area along the river I presume?

I believe by balmy he means "mild", or not cold, not hot. I think it was in the 60s in Chicago yesterday, and 70s today. Nice pics.

For this Chicagoan who's been accustomed to wearing a wool coat since October... it was HOT today.

The high today was 73, which broke the old record high of 72 set back in 1995 & 1990 if I'm not mistaken. It was an absolutely incredible day! I wish I'd brought my camera with me. I took the El down to DePaul and walked east on Fulerton to The Pasta Bowl for lunch, then headed further east to the lakefront. The color of the water was incredibly blue! It almost looked tropical. I walked down the lakefront from near Fulerton to LaSalle and then crossed over and headed south on Michigan Avenue to Millenium Park. From there it was back to the loop to catch the brown line up to Lincoln Square where I relaxed a bit at home before heading back out this evening to Lakeview. Lots of people were out & about this evening, all with smiles on their faces. Best day I've had in Chicago yet! Thank god I didn't have to work today!

(too bad it's gonna get colder again tomorrow)

I think we mean humid when it is humid. Not balmy like mud slide balmy or santa anna fire balmy.....

Of course you are talking to a guy who loves the cold and the hot and the dry and the humid and the piles of snow and the huge wonderful thunderstorms......and the beautiful green summers.....

Today I got to feel my first air conditioning at the Century Theater in Evanston....and funny...last week we were excited about 39F as a high and now we are depressed about a 39F on Friday...lol.
