Faces of Ghana

My friend spent three month in Ghana and returned with hundreds of beautiful pictures.
I think they are too beautiful and interesting to not share them so I asked her if it's ok to post them. So here they are:

Where are these from?

I spent about a month in Ghana 8 years ago but my experience was quite different as I was with 'middle class' people in Accra. They lived pretty much the same as I do.

A world totally unknown to the vast majority of us. Great set of pics. Most of the pics with the little kids are cute as heck. Thanks to you Alemaria and your friend for allowing you to post hese here.

I think she spent most of her time in Kumasi and then travelled around. The beach pics are from Elmina I think.
I have to ask her because I forgot the names. I know she visited some national parks and also saw elephants (those pics wouldn't have fit in this thread though). She only spent about 4 days in Accra, but was sick the whole time and had to stay in bed, that's why there aren't any Accra pics.
She travelled alone and never felt unsafe.

It sure is a beautiful country and I hope the econmy will imrpove so that in the future more tourists will visit the country.

I really enjoyed this thread. Ghana looks like a really optomistic place despite its problems.

Anyone else a bit disturbed by this pic?

I know its a baby but it looks like some horrid tumour or conjoined twin.

Of all of the pictures of urban scenes, and the beautiful buildings, and cities posted on this forum I've seen. Not a one of them top what I've just viewed in these photos. I found this thread quite fascinating, and educational at the same time. Tell your friend thank you very much for allowing you to share these beautiful photos, as we don't often get treats such as this.

When I was younger, I spent two summers living with a Ghanaian host family a little bit outside of Accra. I know it's a bit of a cliche to say, but the people in Ghana are so friendly and welcoming. I would spend a lot time traveling around Accra by myself using the minibus taxis that everyone crams into (including at night), and I never felt threatened even though people could obviously see I was a foreigner. People used to come up to me all the time and try to give me directions to make sure I wasn't lost. While in many developing countries I would have been a target for theft...in Ghana people were always genuinely trying to help a visitor!
