It must be strange having the site of a nationally traumatic assassination be a major tourist attraction.

I like the photos! It was completely overcast in San Antonio. Saw nothing of it other than a minute of darkness even though I was in the path of totality. I’m still pissed.

dallas is a non-fun city, it's purely for business, industry, convention, exposition, seminar and other business purposes.

but i see some tourists-like crowds on the streets.

Beautiful photos. I've always loved the building with the rocket on top. Not sure when it was built, but it looks like maybe the 50s.

Yeah, that one is cool. Wikipedia says it’s from 1954. Was the headquarters for Republic National Bank. Republic Bank’s building in Houston in the 80s was this:

cedar springs is a nice little gayborhood. had many a fun night at station 4, sue ellens and roundup saloon.

dallas is one of those places that you have to look a bit to find it but there's a lot of stuff worth seeing/doing. deep ellum has a ton of cool shit. bishop arts district and lower greenville are also quite lively neighborhood districts.

Nice showcase of downtown Dallas. When I visited pre-Covid it felt sleepy down there, but with the potential to really be a vibrant place.

Yep. From what I read, it was me and about 400,000 other people from all around the world.

We were lucky. Woke up that morning, skies completely greyed over like I'd expect in Portland. The sky started opening up within 1-2 hours of totality.

beautiful city but I'm kinda salty cause all (and when I say all I mean ALL) of my good friends have moved to Dallas I miss them dearly. Dallas kinda reminds me of NYC and Chicago with all the interstates and the overall feel of the city. I imagine come 2040 it will be the largest city in America. Also please post some of the neighborhoods I was in neighboring city and didn't get to see the cities neighborhoods please post some if you could.

I was actually thinking the same exact thing as I was staring at the photos with all the tourists. I get it in the idea that it speaks to the human desire to connect with history, to try to make sense of moments that changed the course of a nation, but there’s a fine line between memorializing and sensationalizing.
