Early Snow in Dupont Circle (Washington, DC)

We received (and are still receiving, about 4" at last check) our first snow in DC today; these pictures were taken during my lunch break around 1, the heavy stuff moved in after 2.

The birds were busy at work.

Hardy tree, fall be damned

Into the abyss of DC Metro

Massachusetts Avenue as it pours into the Circle

Looking up P St, east entrance to Georgetown at the far end

Corner of New Hampshire Avenue and Dupont Circle

Looking down New Hampshire

Stripping the character off this building to replace it with a pretty glass facade

These birds amused me

Cars driving northward from beneath the Circle

Looking up Connecticut Avenue

Corner of Connecticut and Q

The dreaded DC parking enforcement; this is a boot-van

Nice car making a left onto southbound Connecticut Avenue

DC has some of the nicest, most picturesque rowhouse streets in the country

I've always thought there was something Germanic about these rowhouse mansions

Beer doesn't stop flowing in cold, snowy weather

Temperature was about 35 degrees, an hour later they headed downward and the snow began sticking to the main thoroughfares

Looking southbound on Connecticut Avenue; on a clear day you can see the White House

Maybe the cops were sipping hot chocolate by the fire?

The (in)famous Massachusetts Avenue as it runs southeast through downtown

Mercedes is a popular brand in DC

Inside the Circle

Another nice street

Ah, commerce

That car again

The killer metrobus

The park

The Circle

Nice little shops just south of the circle

Good work!! I've seen snow twice in my life so this gives a good feel.

I might call the driving hotline and report DC 5991, for ruining a good picture.

I hope this is a preview of what could be a snowy season. But I work just a little bit to the south and west of these pictures. It was nice but alot of people can't WALK in it.

it's been snowing up here since about 10 this morning but the streets are just wet.

TexasBoi's post made me think - is there a city on the east coast where the TV reporters don't say "2-3 inches in the city, 3-4 inches north and west" or "we have frost warnings for the city tonight and a freeze advisory for areas north and west [so take those plants in]"

Hmmm, more than half of the photos in this thread are just red x's for me. I tried right clicking on them and selecting "show picture", but that didn't work. I also tried individually pasting the direct photo links into my browser, but that brought up a photobucket page that said "page not found". From what I'm seeing though, the photos that do show up look great. And I love this area of DC most of all, so hopefully the problems will be rectified soon.

Me too. For every picture that shows there are 4 or 5 red x's.

I <3 Dupont Circle, tho.

Sorry! I didn't realize you had to keep the photos on Photobucket in order to see the pics! I will make the corrections

Miss the snow, but still have bad memories of trying to get to Bethesda on the T6 in the the white stuff. But it still isn't Christmas without it( sunny california weather is nice except this time of the year).
