The shape of it has always been awkward given that it goes all the way from Dekalb Ave on its south side up to North Avenue on its north side and sandwiched between Boulevard & the Beltline rails. It was destined to split. Should the two be called Fourth Ward collectively and New Fourth Ward north of Freedom and Old Fourth Ward south of Freedom??? Just drop the word Old from the park??? Redefining and splitting larger less dense neighborhoods into higher density smaller neighborhoods is a consequence of our ever evolving & population growing city.

Technically the Southern Company HQ at Ralph McGill and Piedmont is O4W too!
Agree it's a super bizarre neighborhood. At this point O4W is basically three distinct neighborhoods:
- South of Freedom Parkway
- North of Freedom Parkway/East of Glen Iris
- North of Freedom Parkway/West of Glen Iris
By the time you get west of Central Park Place you're basically in SoNo.
