Wow - so exciting to see some progress here… I’d left G’ville in 2002, soon after the BiLo Center had been completed and the old auditorium demolished (I know it has a different name now, but it’ll always be the Grocery Dome to me, lol) and every time I returned, I’d be disappointed to see the site sitting fallow, with proposals coming & going with nothing seemingly to gain traction.
But this time maybe - just maybe - the next time I’m in the Upstate there will be something new & exciting to check out at that lonely site… please keep the pics coming!
Now if we can just do something about the surface parking lot on the NE corner of Main & Broad…

Update from Upstate Business Journal:

“Excavation began in March on the 250 North Church development, formerly known as the Greenville Gateway and Gracie Plaza projects in downtown Greenville. It is the former site of Greenville Memorial Auditorium.

Site plans include two towers — one 24 stories and the other 29. It is expected to have more than 300 residential units, commercial space and several public plazas. At completion, it is expected to be Greenville’s tallest building.

Scott Johnston of Johnston Design Group said the project submitted its foundation permits in April with the crane set to show up by summer.“
