87-109 Ashley St | ? | 6 fl | Proposed

6 storey proposal on Ashley Street. Public consultation meeting was held June 14, 2023, and we are now waiting on an application to the city.

Apparently will be a 136 unit rental building.

This seems like a good project in a part of town that could definitely use some development and investment. I hope it moves quickly.

But shouldn't the title of this thread be 87-109 Ashley St | ? | 10 fl | Proposed? I don't think anything has been approved yet.

yes, that's my bad, apologies. I copy and pasted another threads title for formatting and forgot to change that part. It's also 6 storeys, not 10:

Not bad, though I'm not really a fan of the courtyard. Wish the whole building came up to the sidewalk instead. Still would be an upgrade over the empty industrial building thats there now.

I too think I'd prefer the "courtyard" to be in the back. But this design, while much larger, echoes many of the 4-storey walk-up buildings spread around the older parts of the city that have a small courtyard fronting the street (the ones along Main between downtown and the Delta are prime examples). Many of those older buildings need some love, but I bet that will happen... hopefully without renovictions.

More of this type of development would be ideal for so many unused and under-used properties in the city.
