GARDEN CITY, IDAHO (BOISE) | The Boardwalk | 252 FT | 18 FLOORS

new proposal for Garden City, a suburb of Boise that's actually surrounded by Boise. This 18-floor, 252-foot proposal would be just down the river from Downtown Boise, and would be taller than the two 19-story condo proposals for Boise.

story and rendering from boisedev.com.

this would be built next to an already-under-construction development along the Boise River. from this rendering, you can see its proximity to the Boise city center (image from Erstad Architects):

Very retro cool. Looks like the Winnipeg Clinic in Winnipeg (of all places.)

you're right. it does (i had to look it up):

i believe Winnipeg and Boise have similarly-sized MSAs, so perhaps there's a deeper secret connection between the cities that we were not privy to.

I thought I'd never see the day Garden City would have a tower! Nice.

PS, the website address has a typo...its boisedev.com. (There's a pop-up the moment you go to it btw, but it does have some additional info like the address of 510 E 41st.)

Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yup, they're both around 800K but you'd never know it by looking at their respective skylines, Boise's skyline is half the size of Winnipeg's

I'd be happier if this thing were right downtown because Boise's skyline needs all the help it can get

Boise will get there. We have 3 "skyscraper" proposals for downtown in addition to this one across the river in Garden City. Being one of the fastest growing cities in the nation will hopefully increase the tower proposals in downtown.

Our fellow American cities in Canada always seem to out do similar sized cities in the USA regarding their skylines.

Where Boise shines, is the density in downtown, which has increased over the years with all of the new low/mid rise developments built, currently under construction and in the pipeline. Downtown is urban for a midsize city with the small, walkable blocks and vibrant street level engagement with retail and restaurants, etc.

Here's a photo from a few years ago I shot from Table Rock. Some of our towers are hidden from this angle, but it shows the density of downtown.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

it's hard to tell, but I think if this building gets built, you'll be able to see it in that photo, somewhere in the upper right, and would look like it's fairly close -- so it won't seem very far from downtown.

You should sell this picture as it's easily the best picture of Boise's skyline i've ever seen

Regarding it's growth, you're not kidding because I remember Boise's metro being around 600K just a few years ago and now it's up to 750K and when I saw that, I was like, WTF?!? Holy growth Batman!

this project has been approved.

given that the rest of the complex is already under construction, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets going soon.
