worst building of the prairies

ok i am going to make a contest to see what proud city had the worst building of the prairies. this means it is good for any city or town in manitoba or saskatchewan. On monday the 18th of May i will create a poll which will have all the nominations. the one with the highest votes win.

the rules are:

1. no bridges, dams, etc are allowed

2. building can be anywhere in the city but must not be grain elevators(every city nearly has one) or industrial

3. the building cannot be/going to be demolished

4.must include a photo of the building and try tell tell some info on it

nominate as many as you want and have fun!!!!!!!!!

I nominate the Capri Place for saskatoon, it is located in saskatoon and was sold to a charity which now uses it as low income housing.

You're pretty much bang on, so we probably won't even bother.

Yeah, the Public Safety Building by it's physique would make Stalin very proud.

^Ah yes, the non-conformist iceberg with a tower.

Reason why I call it non-conformist because it's sitting on a landmass, rather than in the ocean.

City Hall isn't bland, its a great example of modernism, even if it is, somewhat ironically, out-of-date.

Though I agree Winnipeg deserves a better city hall.

to be fair though, all of winnipeg's modernist buildings like city hall, etc, look suuuuuper hot and amazing in the black and white photos of that winnipeg modernist architecture book. in reality though, yeah they leave something to be desired.

Damn this colour world I live in.

What about the Grain Exchange Building in Winnipeg. You know, the one that gets fatter on top for the top six or seven stories. Always reminds me of a giant gas pump.

Excellent point nordique.

I was trying to put my finger on why the book looks so much better than the real deal.

That's not the Grain Exchange Building (which is actually located at 167 Lombard)....you're referring to the Grain Commission Building at 303 Main St. The mushroom building.
