[Halifax] 5555 Almon Street | ? m | 6 fl | Proposed

Samir Metlej Jr. has annonced he plans to file for a development agreement for some lots he owns on the north-east corner of Almon St & Isleville St. The plans are for a $7 M, 6-storey, 35-unit apartment building.

For this part of the North-End the normal process is for a LUB/MPS amendment to allow Schedule 'Q' on the site followed by the development agreement shortly afterwards. The last three projects to be approved in this immediate area took 6-12 months for approval after the public information meeting.

This is the 11th project underway for near the Shipyards (North-Robie-Young-Barrington).

Google Streetview (notice the vacant lot across Isleville is 2814 Isleville).

Interesting that this is moving forward, while the other on Barrington is now on hold...

True. This project is half the size (35 vs 70 units) so maybe he has faith for some units in a more established neighbourhood but not as many in a less desirable location. My best guess is he is building the site more suitable for families/upscale first.
