I thought I'd give you a little something you've probably never seen before.
This is the first part of my first photo thread. This thread covers the pictures I took of a neighborhood in North Philadelphia called Templetown. The pictures were taken over the course of a few months. The neighborhood is home to Temple University's main campus and the name "Templetown" has been applied to the area around Temple's campus. It originated from a former Temple University President (Peter J. Liacouras). Up until recently the area was primarily a slum. Temple students have recently been overflowing out of the dorms and into the surrounding neighborhoods, gentrifying the area. Sit back, relax and enjoy some photos. Oh and listen to some Philly musicians while you're at it.
Ah, good ol' Temple. Hopefully you got 'the world's worst stucco job' at 15th & York in Part 2. I live a few blocks away and see the Broad & Cecil B. Moore building getting a little higher every week.

Haha... unfortunately I did not make it up that way but I may go tomorrow morning and add it to the thread for a good laugh. I know exactly what building you are talking about too. The new dorm is very large. The footprint of it is an entire block (errr half block?). The tower is only at about half height now too. The building is just going to dominate the area.
I always get a glimpse of the Temple-related construction madness whenever I visit Philly, but I never imagined it to be this extensive. Is Temple upgrading their academic programs in tandem with the increase in new students? I know that the school has improved in recent years, but its reputation and pull outside of the Philly area still seems to be lacking.

The business school, art and communications school, medical school and law school are exploding. I know the law school is about to expand. The business school expanded a few years ago (in 2008 I believe). Temple is slowly starting to improve it's academics but it is certainly happening. The construction around the area is mad and there will be much more in the near future...
