Trailers, Steampunks & Dives - Boston Version

This is a celebration of the industrial age, the automobile age, and the love-child of both ages, the manufactured mobile home.

The costumed people were at the Steampunk festival in Waltham. They appear to be celebrating the machine age with a science fiction twist. How lucky for me to stumble upon them and have my camera! Very nice people.

The roadside motels, attractions, restaurants, etc. are from suburban Boston's crazy Route One. Truly a tribute to the golden age of automobile travel.

And finally, the combination of factories & wheels, the trailer house. The relics I am showing are nearly antique. And becoming more rare by the day. The old trailer parks are being erased quickly as new shopping centers & townhouse developments take their place. Probably a good thing in the opinion of many. However, I think we are losing a bit of Americana. If I were rich, I would be buying these treasures up and restoring them as museum pieces for the future.

Please enjoy this tour. I suspect that some of you have not seen this side of Boston.

By the way, flickr didn't pull these up in the order that I would have liked. Out of sheer laziness I present them as they are. I think you can figure it out. Please enter with a sense of humor.

That concludes our drive-thru tour. Thanks for viewing.

Yikes! I nearly forgot my favorite! Check out the butterfly roof. I found an advert online for this home when it was new. If interested in seeing, go to www.allmanufacturedhomes.com, scroll down to the 1960 Kropf Eldorado. Cool modern design & fab kitchen.

Great stuff there - love the retro signage and enhanced trailers.

wow, as we were just saying ...

this is wild. the miniature golf is appropriate. the "to each their own" assault on the english language by honda? not so much.

nice tour, expat.

Saugus, Trashachusetts indeed!

Is the giant orange T-Rex still terrorizing the miniature golf course? That was always my favorite.

Blade Bltz, this is for you. The best pic I could get without actually playing a round of mini-golf.

Do you mean the ship near the Christmas Tree Shop? I don't think I have a pic of it currently.

There are parts of The Ship that are there and there is a restaurant there, i forget the name but "something" at The Ship and as Expat said, there is a Chrustmas Tree attached to the right side of The Ship.............and Expat, you forgot Mr. Peanut, do you know where he is? great, great stuff as always. i got goose bumps looking at the Rte 1 shots, i have driven a few miles on that road and it certainly is a bit of Americana.

Thank you very much for your pictures, Expat!

Curious people and curious mobile or trailer houses. I´ve liked to watch dinners by the roads and motels, like in a film. I like very much old dinners, with its tasty food like pizza or hamburgers.

It´s a pleasure for me to watch again photos from your fabulous city and state.

Congratulations and greetings from Madrid, Spain.
