2010 Locations

I've put together a google map of most of the 2010 Venues and also added on some other useful info, such as transit stations.

Check it out here.

Great job. You should send this to VANOC - they might be able to put this to good use.

On the other hand, knowing VANOC, they might also choose to send their brand police after you

Just post an updates you think should be on there and an address, if you can find one, and I'll be sure to add them...

Then you might as well put a mark on EVERY Olympics celebration point and EVERY Olympic flame pitstop around the entire province.

this is from
Surreys Olympic plan

Quote:
Torch Relay:
The Olympic Torch Relay will arrive in Surrey on February 8, 2010. The Olympic Torch will be in Surrey for 2 days, leaving on February 9, 2010. Surrey has been identified as a unique location and celebration site for the Relay; Surrey is one of 40 cities across Canada that is receiving this unique status.
makes you think it might be worth it for a small marking if its 1 of only 40

You're making exactly my point. If you mark Surrey, then mark all 40.

Looks like an impressive map. My only suggestion to you to make it clearer for the average person is to make the venues/Olympic-related icons a different colour than the transit-related ones, or something along those lines.

I've updated the icons for competition venues and train stations for now.

If you like the map, positive reviews are appreciated.

98 & 99 B-line stations added as per your suggestions. I need to expand the descriptions a bit, but it's a start.

Check it out and as always reviews are appreciated.

29th Avenue is in a random place in Richmond.

98 B-line will be discontinued when the Canada Line is opened.

as per 2010 locations I just came back from a seminar on sponsors and their role and man was I blown away. Apparently, Coke, BofA and many others have booked complete hotels. All will be setting up their own pavillions. Heineken house and Club Bud (budweiser is still setting up shop even though they aren't an official sponsor) got my attention

the Olympics was equated to 3 superbowls per day for 2 weeks! That is crazy and downtown will be one huge party zone.

Rumour has it that one of the sponsors is trying to get U2 to do free show at one of the live sites downtown

The entire economic impact will totally outweigh the costs even if you include the RAV line and upgrades to sea to sky highways (even though I wouldn't as they were needed anyways)
