Vancouver residents looking for house swappers for Winter Olympics
Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and all of those people will need a place to sleep.
Now, many Vancouver residents are looking to cash in and get a free vacation out of the deal.
"So we would really love to get down to San Diego for a couple of weeks and just trade off with someone up here, give them a downtown experience in Vancouver, close to all the action and without having to take a second mortgage out on their house to do it," said Mark Kowall, a Vancouver real estate agent.
Kowall, along with many of his friends are looking for someone to swap houses with in February.
San Diegans have a rare opportunity, because America's finest city is one of few places worth the trade.
"People from Vancouver love southern California. Most folks in Vancouver love the weather down there," said Kowall.
The web site Craigslist is filled with people looking to swap pads.
With the games in town, Kowall thinks he could get close to ten grand for his condo.
He's looking for an even trade.
"Our place downtown, we're smack in the middle of downtown we're fifteen minutes to everything Olympic wise. You know we would be looking at something comparable in San Diego, so something on the beach or near the beach would be great, in La Jolla, or Del Mar, or Mission Beach," said Kowall.
There are lots of people in the suburbs of Vancouver that would be willing to take something a little more inland in return, apples for apples basically.
Kowall also says he's careful about who he deals with because of crooks and scams.
