Winnipeg's Planning/Sustainability Symposium

Hey folks.
Just wondering if any of you out there know which organizations got invited to the sustainability planning symposium at the WAG? I'm curious who the city has selected.

I think it makes a lot of difference, and I would've thought more people here would be interested in the conversations that will shape planning in Winnipeg for the next 10+ years.

Or is there some highway out of town that needs to be discussed?

I have participated in far too many "consultation exercises" to see them as anything less than farce. The groups/individuals could get 30 minutes to talk, and it wouldn't change things. City Hall will still cater to suburban real estate development and will still be so bogged down by bureaucracy that any kind of change--left or right--is impossible. As Propagandhi said, "this system cannot be reformed."

Given the current climate at City Hall, it's pretty hard to take any discussion of sustainability seriously - environmental, social or otherwise. Sustainability is more than bike trails. This is just theatre.

Agreed. This town needs less talk, and more rock.

Between Waverly Waste, Sage Creek, and the creation of the greatest discount Power Centre of all time I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Perhaps but for different reasons. I don't think this event was limited to 'young winnipeggers' (there certainly were old winnipeggers there) and the cap appeared to be for logistical reasons. Many people who registered were no shows anyway.
