Online Finds

So I was searching for some stuff on Google this morning, and came across a bunch of great photos of Hamilton.
I thought I would copy a thread in the Québec forum (Une Belle Photo Trouvé Sur l'Internet) and start a similar one for Hamilton!
We can post pics of Hamilton found Online that were not taken by any of us...

Check these out:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/hamilton-ontario/pool/
once you get to page 5, there are some really neat pics of old signs from around the city.

And as always, one of my all-time favourite Online photo-albums:
Vintage Postcards of Hamilton, Ontario

Hey, no problem. It's a great site that's updated pretty frequently. I check every month or so.

It boils my blood sometimes, but it's still fun to look at. haha

hehe you should have been reading my signature all this time! Great site they have there. Also, at the recent makers market on james north (past saturday) they had a booth with cards and magnets with reproductions of some of these vintage cards. Great stuff!

what building is that. from what i gather..it's on the southeast corner of King & John.

Gorgeous..i mean..so sad to see what happened that building, because it has so much potential to be restored! looks amazing..i love the arch windows, appears to be long open spaces, marble floors.
Parts of the pics made me think it was being restored, other parts, not so much.

any details on this building?

^^ This is the Royal Connaught Hotel.
There's a whole thread on it in the Downtown section!!
We HOPE Harry Stinson is restoring it since LIUNA is sitting on it like it's nothing.

Those were taken from the roof of the Connaught last winter. I was with him when he took them. I took some of my own... but he's shooting with a much better camera

Same position, more core:

This is the view people you'd get if residential was put up there. I think it sells itself.

Click the link. Does the City street in the background of the banner look familiar to anyone here?

That's fun. Seems Dalton's pretty committed to Hamilton this term. This is definately a good thing. Good find, BrianE!! Thanks for sharing!

This is Hamilton's decade! lol

Personally though Dalton has been great to Hamilton, probably the best Premier Hamilton has had who actually listens to us and willing to lend out a hand. I won't list all the positive stuff Dalton has done to Hamilton over the years as it'll be long.

dang... a little TLC and that's how King could look...add LRT through there (and put the park back in of course. lol) and we'd be off to the races.
the foundation is in place...now we need to build a strong city.
