You can see the crescent hotel at Rene-Levesque and Crescent. And notice, the Bell centre (sorry, the Molson centre) isn't even built yet. This picture is 1992. Look at the area around the tower, what a mess it was back then.

This is a view from the Marriott Hotel. I shiver at the thought of this same view prior to the existence of the 1250. Also, just imagine the pathetic views of urban decline guests at that (4 star) enjoyed throughout its history. To the south: the rail yards and derelict industries of Griffintown. To the north-west: a sea of parking lots along the city's premier business artery, to the east: empty lots, Central Station and Place Bonaventure. Lovely.

I love Tour de la Bourse + PVM, but you know, I think it is time for them to get a facelift.

1250 René-lévesque takes it for me. I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but it's actually one of my favourite post-modern designs in Canada. The proportions are seem excellent to me. Behind that I'd put PVM, with Tour de la Bourse and Tour CIBC tied. PVM is a classic and while the others may be just be boxy, they have a classic modernist look.

This may be an even more unpopular opinion, but I've never liked 1000 de la Gauchetière. It just looks… awkward to me.

Torn between 1250 Boulevard René-Lévesque and 1000 Rue de la Gauchetière, one choice only..René-Lévesque.

I didn't know what it was until SSP, but it's my memory of flying into MTL 100 times.

1000 de la Gauchetière in the early lead. I would have ranked it 5th. Tour de la Bourse first, CIBC 2nd.

1250 R-L is my favourite, most modern design, and aside from the hat, looks like a fairly timeless design. Don't really get the love for PVM, it's nice but aside from the shape of the building (in plan) I don't see anything unique about it.
