Wilmington: small in stature, big in character

Here are 20 pictures to show you what Wilmington is like. Our population isn't as big as our neighbors like Philadelphia or Baltimore, but we have some great buildings just like they do. You won't find many cities that are the same size as Wilmington that look this nice.

Beautiful! When I see these, and remember some of the previous Wilmington photos you've posted, I have to recognize that Wilmington is a little-publicized treasure.

I love that shot with the sunlit houses contrasted against the dark, ominous-looking clouds!

Thank you! Believe it or not, I've always wanted to see pictures of this city - in this way, that is. And you're right, you can't find too many cities of comparable size that can maintain what Wilmington appears to so well.

You aren't going to find too many cities of Wilmington's size that had such a good seat at the table of history as well and that's why one sees what one seese. It is a remarkable place.

One of my favorite "smaller" cities. And I think these pics show why. Nice job Matt, I gotta get back there soon. Thanks.

btw, the building entheosfog pointed out, kinda looks like an old firehouse.

I believe that is Trenton Place. If not, it's Monroe Street, the next street over. These houses are in the Trinity Vicinity neighborhood, which is roughly between 7th & 11th Streets and Jefferson & Adams Streets, just west of Center City (downtown).

Nice pics!
That building is Wilmington Firehouse #5, occupied by what was then the Water Witch Fire Company and built in 1893. It's still in use.

Beautiful place. I'll probably stop by when I'm up that way in summer.
