PWright's Seattle Walk Jan 23 2007

Decided to take a walk downtown. We'll start heading west on Madison.

The beautiful Sorrento Hotel

Some dt Seattle streets are quite steep.

Bellevue and the Cascades

The Sound and the Olympics

Downtown Westlake Monorail station. I'll hop on the monorail and head over to Seattle Center.

I'll head over to the new Olympic Sculpture Park.

Here we are.

More dt streets

A new and bigger Barney's coming in June.

Guess I'll head home now.

Finally home.

Hope you enjoyed my walk.

Lucky for us pwright rules his camera with an iron fist--otherwise we'd be lost without all of his badass threads.

Seattle is such a charming city, and pwright1 has a way of hightlighting this. Hopefully one of these days I get a chance to visit again.

Don't be jealous. It's just more for those like me who don't get to enjoy it everyday.

And thanks for letting you camera know who's boss, pwright.

Great pictures!

Does the monorail get a fair number of riders?

Is it genuine public transport, or more of a tourist attraction these days?

The Monorail has had a series of breakdowns that's kept it out of business for much of the past couple years I'd guess.

It's mostly for tourists. But it does get its local riders too.

Not only the breakdowns, but Seattle Center itself is in need of big change. It doesn't draw the local/visitor croud and the Sonics/Storm are leaving. Hopefully the big and needed changes will happen. The coming Gates Foundation headquarters across the street will be a boost and new housing density is underway.
