very cool. i'd rather see threads like this, documenting neighborhoods of O, than the same ol views of downtown.

From these photos it appears that Omaha is filled mostly with a small-town feel throughout.

The skyline is good though, there is no denying it. Nice pictures.

Mattsal: Eh, sort of. Not really any more so than any other city of Omaha's size in the country. Benson was originally a small town that was swallowed by Omaha some 60 years ago, and like many other neighborhoods it maintains that feel. Omaha has never been heavy on neighborhood infill (though that is changing a bit), but there are definitely some urban mid-sized city districts east of 72nd.

Chrizow: Thanks, I'm working on getting neighborhood photos of Some of Omaha's most unique areas. Today I walked midtown and parts of downtown, tomorrow I'm hopefully going to get into North O - which is perhaps the most surprisingly architecturally rich of Omaha's hoods'

Looks nice. I've seen a couple of movies, Election and About Schmidt (excellent, btw) which showed Omaha. It certainly seems intriguing although I'm not sure I'm hardy enough for the winters.

I love Omaha's collection of great old brick buildings. So good... Some of the smaller streets remind me of Guthrie, OK.

Those are pretty neat. I like the South Omaha ones the best. My school bus used to go by that "Yeily's Unisex". It's definantly an eye opener seeing it for the first time.

Maybe if feels that way because it is... a small city that is. I think Omaha looks great and these pictures are too.

Very impressed by big O. I love the Josslyn Art museum. Does it have a marble facade or something?

BnaBreaker: I'm not sure what Joslyn is made of...it's not marble though. Perhaps some form of pink granite - it is pretty unique. It is a very impressive building on the inside as well.

It is Georgia Pink Marble. It was built in 1931 designed by John and Alan McDonald and Herschel Elarth. The addition was completed in 1994 designed by Sir. Norman Foster. The addition was built with marble from the same quarry that provided the original marble.
