Looking for good Chicago addresses

I'm planning a 5-day trip to Chicago with my gf over the holidays and I'm looking for suggestions for:

- a nice boutique hotel, preferably in an old converted skyscraper in the Loop,
- addresses for good jazz and comedy clubs
- addresses for real soul food (I don't want to leave Chicago without having some real fried chicken)
- any architectural tour, aside from the obvious well-known ones, that would be worth checking out.

Thanks in advance - I'm taking my camera and a few memory sticks with me.

A few years back my boyfriend and I took a long weekend at the Hotel Burnham in the Reliance Building. It was a brilliant little hotel. Central Loop, well restored. There are certainly some other hotels of the same sort in the Loop, Allegro and Monaco come to mind, but the Burnham was just really nice and cute as buttons.

Just checked out its website... thanks, that's what I'm talking about.
