I have to say that I like the idea of the soccer stadium there, I wonder how much demo they would have to do.

DKR - They just replaced the turf, are covering the back of the Jumbotron, replaced the South stands, and are doing some other work on the South end of the stadium.

I'm really glad UT is covering the back of the Godzillatron. I'm surprised they didn't do it when it was 1st built.

DKR is just under 100,000 at a listed capacity of 94,113. Of course at most games there are more than listed capacity and had 98,621 at the A&M game ao they could break that this year though, I am sure they can find some space to cram in another 1,500 or so. From the pics it looks like they could possibly build a bigger South End Zone section with some reworking of the scoreboard and cantilevering over building behind it. Having never been there I don't know if that is realistic though. How much is this year's reworking supposed to add?

One of these years I guess we will go to a Tech game there, since my wife is a Tech grad.

There are long term plans to expand the south endzone to match the north endzone. When that occurs, the Jumbotron will be moved. They just spent a couple hundred million dollars on the stadium though, so it may be 10 or 20 years. But, you never know, it could be sooner.

By the way, the stadium's seating capacity is expected to be 115,000 at that point.

I really like the new North End Zone that I have seen from I-35 and on TV, looks like they did a good job on it. The entire stadium looks like a pretty nice facility from the outside looking in. I might try and track down some tickets for the Tech-UT game since it is here this season.

I wish OU would fill in the North End Zone between the two upper decks they have and reconfigure the South End Zone to enclose the upper deck area similar to that DKR model. The capacity now is 82,112 and there was 85,646 for the Tech game last year, it was definitely packed in there. The new East Side that they opened a few years back moved me up the season ticket list some but not enough, of course if I would donate some that would move me up the list faster but as long as I have access to my fathers tickets once a year I am not to worried about it. We do automatically have dibs on the OU-Tech tickets in Norman every other season.

We will get a look at JerryWorld for the OU-BYU game, should be an interesting thing to see.

I won't say it is the best, but it is definitely amongst the best college football stadiums in the country. Not too many football stadiums have more than a 94,113 official capacity, or have 110 suites. No other college team, and only a few stadiums in the world, have a high-definition scoreboard as large as the one in DKR. The concourses are top-notch, the locker rooms are top notch, plenty of bathrooms, and it's visually appealing both inside and out IMHO.

I was under the impression that Auburn had the largest high def scoreboard in the country. Though, I'm hoping that it's actually Texas that does...

Enjoy your jumbotron while you can, Bryant-Denny Stadium (Alabama's stadium) is losing its I'm gonna miss that thing...

BTW, I just looked it up, and Texas was the first to install a high def screen Yay! Another thing that Texas beats Auburn at, please keep racking them up.

Texas students moving down at Royal-Memorial Stadium
http://www.statesman.com/sports/cont...ats.html?imw=Y

Quote:
With the addition of about 1,000 seats beyond the south end zone, Royal-Memorial's seating capacity rose to 96,119 while stadium capacity increased to 100,119. Announced crowds, which include media, concession workers and security personnel among others, should exceed 100,000 for most home games.

Are they putting bleachers on the little grass hill, west of the south end zone?

I'm not sure what you mean. Here's a photo of the stands they built in the south endzone.

And just for fun here are a couple of more with some skyline shots as well.

I thought I saw a drawing in the paper the other day where the corner on the southwest side where that small patch of green is was going to be additional bleachers. It used to be a small grass hill. I used to get a free pass to the games and usually hung out there. From the pic I see that whole area has been reconstructed. I threw the paper away, so I might be mistaken. Nice pics. We usually don't see much from the south end. The south end zone bleachers still look like an add on, and would look better if they wrapped around and connected to the west bleachers.

Those stands are being referred to as semi-permanent. Long rang plans call for the south endzone to mirror the north endzone.

I never knew we had our own forum here.

Just a brief update.. with the changes made to the stadium (DKR) this year capacity is listed at 100,119. Which means gameday attendence (which includes vendors, security, etc) should push near 105,000. Pretty dang impressive.

On top of that, Neyland stadium (the other UT) shrank to 100,011..

meaning we are now the 4th largest stadium in the country

Actually it was Arkansas Stadium in Fayetteville, that held this honor at one time.

Unless Auburn has done a recent upgrade, which is possible, their screens were approximately the same size of those at LSU and Alabama - Bryan Denny before their recent endzone renovations.
