Soap Factory Project
Presumably it's a hotel with convention space next to the San Pedro Creek, and condos/apartments on the top floors because structurally it looks similar to the Grand Hyatt (a.k.a. The Great Wall of San Antonio).

Build it fast and build it tall! Too bad it doesn’t have a side-by-side twin tower, hundreds of new apartments for downtown. it’ll be fascinating to watch this part of town develop with Goodwill taking over the Rosa Verde building and the new pedestrian-friendly streets around Market Square/UTSA.

Just a very amateur idea of what this might look like if it were to go forward. It is based on a very rough footprint I got from the video and is modeled at 350 feet (same as that former Hemisfair tower design). I have not really found much info on this at all but I know anything pertaining to the ballpark district has been kept under wraps. Even if this building were a "best case scenario" for the site this would still be a pretty monumental project to say the least.
Disturbing trend for this and 300 Main - they are long wedges oriented where residents will be blasted with east and west sun and for no apparent reason… nice looking buildings but I predict you’ll see 99% closed blinds

Yeah buildings like this are clearly designed by folks from different climates. Maybe the reasoning is that you get more units with sunset and sunrise views?? Completely insane to live in a west facing glass box imo.

This building looks great I hope it actually comes to fruition as well. I’m sure the success of 300 main could drive the future height of this building. I never realized how much land soap factory encompassed. It always seemed like this apartment complex seemed out of character architecturally for downtown, as they seem more suburban style design.

It looks size-appropriate; I'll give it that. But I'll reserve the term "great" for buildings like Tower Life, the non-garage portion of Frost, and the interior of the Majestic Theater. This one looks like any other minimally-designed, repetitive-floor, value-engineered residential building proudly created by a sophomore drafting student at any high school anywhere in the world.
