New proposal directly north of the Skydome. 3 Million square feet of office space in 2 office towers of 48 and 58 storeys, 261 and 303m, with two residential towers containing 732 apartments, 44 and 54 storeys, 163 and 210m.
The proposal also includes the construction of a new 2 acre park atop the rail corridor.
Interestingly, it's the same developer as the Hudson Yards in NYC.
Union Park was presented at Design Review Panel and they voted in favor of the project but there were alot of conditions that they presented. conditions were mostly related to the park, the podium and the design of the taller buildings. by the remarks of the panel its obvious we will see a complete redesign soon. for more details check out the link. https://urbantoronto.ca/news/2019/09...n-review-panel
We'll see how long until a new design is released...
Don't mind the swoopy towers but can't figure the giant atrium... looks like a giant transportation hub.
Any project that builds over the rail corridor gets mega bonus points.
I'm hoping the park/deck mayhem depicted is more a rendering placeholder by overworked/stoned artist, rather than a design.
Something this big needs the touch of a Cormier or other landscape master to make it great.
P.S. this space need something gigantic/iconic as a centrepiece... when in doubt, go with mega fountain (surrounded by water path/winter skate). No leaks on the trains below hopefully.
