With the site plan now approved, I wonder if any agreement has been reached to include a dedicated student residence. The university has been exploring this with the developer for a couple of years now and the dome of secrecy has been in place.
The university owns the vacant land at 1 Robinson Ave, formerly a City of Ottawa snow dump, and potentially could make a deal with the developer of 2 Robinson to build a residence there. There are a number of ways a deal could go.
As for the new sports complex, I was told by the sports people, more than a year ago, that an agreement with the NCC to get the land where the arena is had been reached. uOttawa would get the land when they are ready to build on it. That could be a way off as they seem to be having trouble with the financing.
I don't expect a tie in with 2 Robinson. However, with all the negotiations being so secret, who knows what will happen?
Edit: One can see the subject land,2 Robinson, in this photo. The Sandy Hill Arena is to your left and 1 Robinson is the bowl shaped land to the right.
