It's taken awhile for 174 Provencher. Mostly small crews working on that foundation for numerous months. But good to see it moving along!

I've been wondering why it's been sitting all July. They got the caissons in in June and nothing seems to have happened until now. With a limited season you'd think they'd go gangbusters while its nice.

haha ya I don't know. It's just going very slow for the amount of work they have done and time been on site. No basement. Grade beams and no caisson. I think they drove piles from what I remember. Too short for caisson.

Looks like the building is coming along nicely. Here's a photo I took yesterday while biking by:

Nice! Hopefully something starts up on the empty corner lot across the street soon.

Isn't there a plan to start on a midrise on that lot come Oct?

Wasn't there supposed to be a new apartment building going up on the corner of Des Meurons and Marion? There used to be a sign but it's long gone and there hasn't been any activity since previous building was demolished.

The appeal was rejected by council if that's the site I think you're talking about. TrueViking designed it so maybe he can speak to what's up.

It was just approved in the last couple months as FactaNV noted. It takes time. I'd expect spring construction.

It feels almost surreal that things are finally going up on Provencher again. Place Joseph Royal was completed in 2007. I remember how exciting it was to have a new building go up on that strip, in such a prominent location. It really helped form the entrance to the strip from downtown and modernize that block. And then....nothing else for 20 years. I never imagined I'd be this...old when the next building went up.

Good to know, thanks. That corner really needs some love. Does the approval process normally take that long? I don't know how any of that works.

Seems pretty normal. Once they get approval from the City, they need to finalize design, secure funding, tender the work and mobilize to site. Takes time.
