I was curious about that, so I did some looking. I only found 2022 numbers, but here is an impressive list of US cities that London has a larger population than. (Obviously, the metros blow us away lol). For giggles, I'm listing cities with major league sports teams. London would come in 44th on the list of largest US cities, and 81st in CMA, and the only metro area with a pro team we are larger than is Green Bay.

Miami, Oakland, Minneapolis, Tampa, New Orleans, Cleveland, Arlington Texas, Anaheim, Orlando, Cincinnati, Newark, Pittsburgh, St Louis, Buffalo, St Petersburg FL, Salt Lake City, Ft Lauderdale, and Green Bay.

St Thomas population growth projections.


An updated economic report projects St. Thomas’s population will grow to about 80,000 by 2051.

Wow. I recall when St. Thomas was bleeding jobs (and possibly population) in the dark days of the Great Recession. And now it is on track to double in size.

Wonder what the reception from city politicians and local residents will be when someone finally proposes a 25 floor twin tower complex there (and I bet it comes forward sooner than later). That city has done a shit job in managing its growth. I lived on Confederation Drive in the late 80's and that was considered the northern outskirts back then. Since then, that whole corner east of the lake over to Highbury and up to Cty rd 52 has been developed with industrial and single family homes. Same with the south and west sides of town, all SFH. Obvious they will have to again expand the city boundary after just doing so last year, but which way are they going to go? Hopefully they embrace high density when that time comes.
