Does anyone know if this is still planned? It would seem its the only tower with significant interest.

Is it approved at 40 stories?

Last news I could find of it was King's Wharf developer Francis Fares, who wants to begin construction of a 36-storey hotel and condo tower in late 2017.

Halifax Retales has the info brochure posted here

Pie in the sky when you die.
He will continue to build the shorter buildings as they offer a faster financial return and are much more marketable. I need to make a trip to the Registry of Deeds and check out if he continues to be highly leveraged. The days of cheap money for potential buyers are over.

Quite disappointed about the design. For being the tallest building in Dartmouth (at least for now), it's pretty bland

As you suggest I don't think it'll be as prominent even 1-2 years after it's done with other projects like the post office tower.

It's a beautiful architectural marvel compared to Queen Square in my opinion. I'd say it's far beyond what most would have expected for Dartmouth just a few years ago (including the old Maristella renderings which weren't great).

The tower design is pretty dull, but honestly the street level looks so good—especially relative to the local standard for new builds—that it’s hard for me to care too much. The articulation and detailing of the retail frontage looks to be genuinely excellent in design and materials. Really hoping it doesn’t disappoint IRL.

A little odd that there's such a discrepancy between the two components, but I'm really glad to see something that doesn't try to pass off a cheapo facade like this or this as something special.

This is a fine looking building(rendering). Certainly nothing the city has to be embarrassed by. Contrast and compare with the dogs breakfasts that are being built in other cities such as KW and London, ON.

I wonder how far off King Street is from feeling like another commercial street like Portland. There are a few gaps and the 90's townhouses with parking in front are regrettable. But there will be this proposal plus the post office. Put something on the big empty lot next to Admiralty Place and King Street will be decent overall.

There is a small gap caused by the railway line and additional setbacks but it doesn't seem that bad.

The Kevel doesn’t seem to be quite on the level at the street.

This! Totally agree. Would love to see some pedestrian only areas filled with good retail space.

The pedestrian-level stuff looks quite nice, and will definitely help to augment the diverse array of shops on Portland. This could end up being a decent destination area once the side streets fill in more.

That part of Portland St has a very long way to go, unfortunately.

According to the King's Wharf Facebook page, they've begun foundation prep work for the Brightwork building.

Alas, still no word on when - or even if - The Maristella will be built.
