It is much cooler in summer than the US northeast but it's a more marine climate with less shift in seasons and the change in temperature is if anything probably smaller. Around there, even in January, there is often no snow on the ground and there's more rainfall than snowfall. It's relatively sunny in winter too, and can be nice to visit then, although you're gambling more on getting a nice day (maybe 40% odds vs 80% in summer). It's much better to visit in summer, but this region is not normally shut down in the winter with piles of snow everywhere.

This is something I don’t appreciate about Quebec City; the huge temperature changes! I’ll prefer snow over days of rain but not at the point of being burried under meters of snow!

That makes me realize that I generally prefer moderate changes…but who can fight against Mother Nature anyway?
