Jazz fest going on right now, then it'll be Fringe Fest, then it'll be Burt Block party so that's at least 5 weekends in the next 8 weeks.

IMHO It sounds like someone has to sell it right, or there needs to be a change in culture within the WCB. I have a feeling it's the former.

Multi-day rock etc stage concert outside the Burt Theatre on the newly adjoined “square” beside it, where Smith St used to cut through between the theatre and the park that no one knew was there

The lot in question will only be a lot until such time that the WCB decides it wants to get into the development game, which is extremely unlikely. The majority of the organization's staff doesn't actually have a parking spot, so that's not where the influence comes from. In reality, the income that the lot generates from staff and the community on evenings and weekends, subsidizes the community stakeholder responsible for WCBs funding, so the lot itself again, is not likely to be anything other than what it is for the foreseeable future... Unfortunately.
My bad, you’re right of course it’s not a crown corp. But if the province seriously wanted that land developed I think they could get it done. Not that I’m holding my breath either.

They're allegedly approaching insolvency, no moolah to book acts. A couple years of no shows drove many music adjacent companies like stereo and light companies out of business so the survivors jacked up their prices by like double or triple. Combine that with inflation and music festivals are now triple or higher in cost and no chance Winnipeggers will go for triple the price tickets.

Klein speaks out (on the platform he owns) on "City planning should be removed from politicians’ hands"

Spot on. It explains a lot about the stagnation this city has suffered over the years.

I am not a fan of Kevin Klein but I agree with this piece.
