Last night I ate at Botte Persian Resto in The Bloc development.
My first time going by and stepping inside the development there and the whole layout of the Bloc was really cool. I've only ever seen their infamous sign from far back. Similar type mixed layout of The Banks, but also lots of things for lease and for sale. I hope 20th and Riversdale can continue to branch out with successful new startups and businesses like Botte. Great food and it was packed. I guess students love it with the unlimited chai tea.

Great post - I've been meaning to give that place a try. Sounds like a fantastic vibe there. Will do my best to get over there next week.

(If you don't mind, please also post your remarks on the Saskatoon Restaurants, Pubs & Retail thread as folks there would also be interested in your overview. Thanks.)

Thanks a lot for the pics, 4LSaskatoon! I don't get to some of these corners of the city often, so great to see the updates!

I love this idea of taxing vacant land being sat on - especially since the Williams (North Prairie) and Concord, Remai etc.. looooove to sit on their vacant downtown land in the downtown as little trust funds for their kiddos. I brought this up to Cynthia Block one time and she scoffed at the idea - she very transparently only cares about Nutana, so hopefully she doesn’t become mayor..

There must be some cities globally that have had success with this, I wonder if anyone’s aware of successfully initiating of this.

“The federal government is seeking feedback from provinces, territories, and municipalities that are interested in implementing their own vacant land taxes. By taxing vacant lands, landowners would be incentivized to maximize the full potential of their land—building homes.”

Good Eye!
I checked my original photo... definitely missing Provincial acknowledgement.
Checked online, it states Federal, Provincial and City funds..

Due to the provincial election any provincial government logos have to be covered over for the duration of the election period.

They're also digging up Attridge and McOrmond for a station there as well. Kind of annoying that they removed the only pedestrian/cycling link through there and I bike around there a lot.

Oh cool, I wasn't aware there was a thread dedicated to Restos & Retail on this site. Can you share the link?

That may be an interesting incentive...I am so frustrated with North Prairie making splashy annoumencements to NEVER follow through! (College Drive and Cumberland)

And I try not to get into politics on here, but if you actually go and look at Cynthia Blocks voting record on downtown development and infill intensity, you will see she IS supportive of core growth. And no....I do not live in Nutana.
