I have never seen such a diverse agglomeration of groups and people so seethingly pissed off at a governor. Everybody is mad.

Was watching NBC this morning and they talked about the massive disruptions on NJ Transit yesterday and talked about how it was a result of Chris Christie canceling the new Hudson tunnel a decade ago. Phil Murphy was one of Christie's biggest critics over that decision, only for him to turn around and lead the opposition to killing congestion pricing in Manhattan.

Yup. Chris Christie did more harm to the region's economy and mobility than even Dump. He cut NJ Transit's Manhattan-bound rail capacity in half.

If you look at the regional sales prices, you see NJ prices were comparable to NY and CT until Christie made the decision. Since then, NY and CT prices have appreciated far ahead of NJ. It's mobility. If you work in the region's core, it's better to live in NY and CT than NJ.

And the new Amtrak tunnel, while it will help, will not fix the issue. This is an Amtrak tunnel. Christie cancelled a NJ Transit tunnel. Amtrak controls the new tunnel, and they plan on doubling service. NJ will have added capacity, but nothing like with the previously u/c ARC tunnel. NJ will eventually have to build its own tunnel.

City Comptroller Brad Lander said Wednesday that he is assembling a coalition of legal minds and impacted parties to potentially sue New York state over Gov. Kathy Hochul’s eleventh-hour decision to indefinitely pause congestion pricing.

I'll vote for Lander for mayor. He has informally announced he's running.

I disagree with him on many issues, but he supports transit and is a straight shooter. He's become the most outspoken advocate for congestion pricing.

New York voters are nearly twice as likely to support Gov. Kathy Hochul’s decision to pause congestion pricing as to oppose it, but tend to disapprove of her leadership more generally, according to a new statewide poll from Siena College.

I wonder if its occurred to her that she's going to have to win the primary first and many of the high info voters who generally participate in those are full power nuclear reactor core mad.

I doubt it. She has some of the worst political instincts I've ever seen.

That polling and resulting article are more or less fakenews.

45% of respondents supported the pause. So a majority don't support the pause, or have no opinion. That's an awful % if you're Hochul. This is a paused toll, or tax. People overwhelmingly don't want to pay tolls or taxes. You'd expect something like 75%, not 45%.

And this is statewide voters, so largely irrelevant. CP only matters directly in the NY Metro. No one in Buffalo is supporting/not supporting Hochul based on CP.

Also, Hochul's approval rating is the lowest ever recorded. She pissed off her former supporters (who mostly support CP) and still isn't liked by her former opponents (who mostly oppose CP). What a disaster and s---show.

She's gonna lose in the primary. Lander or James will be next Dem gov. Even if you like Hochul, and dislike CP, Hochul has revealed herself to be a liar with no backbone.
