I don't want to continue this topic as it clearly drives people crazy in not a good way.

As for the landscaped areas under 95 through Fishtown and Port Richmond, there are a series of neighborhood groups that do weekly cleanings and I think anyone who drove by would notice it's markedly cleaner now than it was, say 6 months ago. Some areas border on spotless. On top of that, once you establish a routine its easy to keep up.

Maybe you could establish such a group among the people who live in the northern part of Old City?

The last piece are the actual streets. We're not going to walk out onto the streets with broom sweeps when the city or Penndot should be doing it.

I was just under there this past weekend. It was spotless. You did it!

I love lists and rankings, and CBRE just released their "Tech Talent" 2024 report cards.
https://mktgdocs.cbre.com/2299/d06ae...alent-2024.pdf

Philadelphia ranks 24 of the 50 largest markets in North America. The biggest takeaway (IMO) is that Philadelphia produces tech talent, but doesn't retain much tech talent.

How does Philadelphia become more competitive in tech?

By having more tech jobs to keep talent from leaving.

That could be a threat to Chinatown so it's a big "no" for me.

It blows my mind that Philly never became a tech hub. After all, ENIAC, the first digital computer, was developed at Penn. Not building off of the success of ENIAC and Penn Engineering to develop an early tech industry in Philadelphia is such a generational miss. Imagine how the succeeding decades would have played out had Philly established itself as a tech player in the 1940s.

NY only became a "tech hub" 10 years ago.

A good plan and continued investment in education (at all levels) but specifically in relevant fields will turn the tide eventually.

Is biotech considered tech? Philly seems to be doing well in that.

Philly is well positioned between the major hubs of NY-DC, seems like playing off that is important.

What is with Canada? Toronto increased tech works by 44% since 2018 (and is #3, so already a big player)? All cities there are killing it. Calgary +78%?

Has anyone posted anything on the Calder Museum? Has a thread been started? The back of it is pretty visible from 676, but I haven't seen any visuals from the Parkway side.

You only start threads for high rises on this forum... it's a relatively small museum. It's coming along nicely and AFAIK is on track to open next year. Everything I've seen, heard, and read about it lead me to believe this is going to be an absolute show-stopping stunner - a huge cultural win for the city.

There really isn't much to see yet from the Parkway side since the building is partially subterranean, but there have been workers consistently on site for months. I'm eager to see how the Parkway view transforms once they start planting the gardens and landscaping.
