I have never seen such a diverse agglomeration of groups and people so seethingly pissed off at a governor. Everybody is mad.

Was watching NBC this morning and they talked about the massive disruptions on NJ Transit yesterday and talked about how it was a result of Chris Christie canceling the new Hudson tunnel a decade ago. Phil Murphy was one of Christie's biggest critics over that decision, only for him to turn around and lead the opposition to killing congestion pricing in Manhattan.

Yup. Chris Christie did more harm to the region's economy and mobility than even Dump. He cut NJ Transit's Manhattan-bound rail capacity in half.

If you look at the regional sales prices, you see NJ prices were comparable to NY and CT until Christie made the decision. Since then, NY and CT prices have appreciated far ahead of NJ. It's mobility. If you work in the region's core, it's better to live in NY and CT than NJ.

And the new Amtrak tunnel, while it will help, will not fix the issue. This is an Amtrak tunnel. Christie cancelled a NJ Transit tunnel. Amtrak controls the new tunnel, and they plan on doubling service. NJ will have added capacity, but nothing like with the previously u/c ARC tunnel. NJ will eventually have to build its own tunnel.

I'll vote for Lander for mayor. He has informally announced he's running.

I disagree with him on many issues, but he supports transit and is a straight shooter. He's become the most outspoken advocate for congestion pricing.

New York voters are nearly twice as likely to support Gov. Kathy Hochul’s decision to pause congestion pricing as to oppose it, but tend to disapprove of her leadership more generally, according to a new statewide poll from Siena College.
